Dr. Swaroopini Thangarajah is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner Obstetrician who adopts a patient-centred approach to healthcare. Her commitment to providing comprehensive medical care spans across all age groups, with a focus on creating a supportive environment where patients feel listened to and valued. With a deep passion for empowering her patients, Dr. Thangarajah prioritises education and shared decision-making, encouraging individuals to take an active role in their health journey.
As a proud fifth-generation medical practitioner, Dr. Thangarajah is driven by a lifelong passion for patient health and well-being. She is committed to ensuring her patients feel their best at every stage of life, whether for routine women’s health check-ups or urgent medical concerns.
Dr. Thangarajah has extensive post-graduate medical training, beginning with her internship at Box Hill Hospital. She currently works at Eastern Health (Box Hill Hospital) and Monash Health (Monash Clayton) maternity clinics. She also assists regularly for gynaecological surgeries and elective/emergency caesarean sections at various private hospitals.
As an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar, she has performed a wide range of procedures, including Caesarean sections, vacuum and forceps deliveries, suction dilatation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopies, and cervical procedures as the primary operator. She has supported hundreds of women through childbirth in the public health system. Her expertise and dedication ensure she provides exceptional care to her patients, making her a highly respected figure in the medical community.

Advanced Diploma of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Advanced procedural
Diploma of Child Health from Sydney University, Westmead’s Children’s Hospital
Certificate in Primary Skin Cancer Medicine, University of Queensland
In her spare time she also organises social events for her colleagues at Eastern Health. She also has a passion for advocacy and part of the Executive Committee for the Eastern Health Medical Staff Association.
She is an energetic mother of 2 young boys and loves to spend quality family time, catch up with friends, play tennis and do yoga.
